Pine Cone Adrift, Saratoga County, NY
A lone pine cone sat nestled in the snow, its brown scales dusted with frost. The wind howled through the bare trees, but it stood firm, a small sentinel in the winter silence. As snowflakes drifted down, the cone's edges softened, merging with the white blanket beneath. By spring, it would awaken, ready to release new seeds to begin the cycle again.
